NW Hearts Charity is a local charity with a big ambition – to improve heart health outcomes across Greater Manchester.
Although there are many examples of world-beating care and clinicians in Greater Manchester, there is still significant variation in care. Not everyone gets the heart treatment they should receive at the time they really need it. Great care should be promoted and celebrated whilst inequities in care must change.
Since our inception in 2021, we have developed a grant-making arm to support impactful projects in hospitals, healthcare settings and in the community, over and above what the NHS can do. We actively promote our grants to all, and focus on making the process simple, fair and inclusive to all.
In addition to our funding to others, NW Hearts Charity has developed a whole library of easy-to-read condition specific patient leaflets. We are continuing to develop more of these, using patient and clinician feedback to identify our priorities. Out in the community, we work alongside various neighbourhood groups and corporate businesses to raise awareness of heart disease and how people might address their own health through our Heart Health Sessions.
These sessions are educational, engaging and informative. The sessions lend themselves very well as part of a businesses employee wellbeing programme and we would be delighted to deliver the sessions to businesses across Greater Manchester and beyond.
