Millennial employees have revealed that having free access to digital workouts provided by their employer would be appealing. 70% have also stated that they would welcome free access to mental wellness tools.
A new survey from leading global exercise class provider, Les Mills, spoke to over 12,000 people from across the globe. Asking the same question to Gen Z, 66% said they would find it appealing to have access to digital workouts if they were provided by their employer, while 61% of Gen X also agreed.
Of those surveyed in the 2021 Les Mills Global Fitness Report, 60% revealed that their workplace did not currently offer a wellness programme in the UK. Globally, only 26% said their workplace offered any wellness solution, and that number dropped to 15% for UK respondents.
“Following the last turbulent 18 months, the morale, health and wellbeing of workforces has never been more important for businesses. It’s clear to see that coming out of a pandemic there is an appetite for more wellness programmes for employees and for these to be provided by their employer,” says Richard Sale, Global Business Development Director for Les Mills. “Wellbeing is a spectrum and it’s important that businesses support every part of that. For most people, that means giving them the tools that will allow them to thrive rather than just survive.”
The survey also revealed people’s reasons to workout with the top five answers as:
- To get healthy (48% of all respondents)
- To get fitter (43% of all respondents)
- To feel better / look good (43% of all respondents)
- To reduce their stress levels (35% of all respondents)
- To improve their mental health (35% of respondents)
