Understanding colour personalities as a leader

By Judy Oliver, Founder at Clarity4D Ltd

As a leader, wouldn’t life be easy if we were a duck and everyone followed us blindly? But of course everyone is different, and a leadership skill is being able to adapt one’s personal communication and behavioural style so that we can connect more easily with the people in our teams. But how can we do this without understanding ourselves and becoming more self-aware?

Clarity4D’s approach is a process and the profile uses colour linked to the four elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth so that people can recognise themselves and others, and more importantly, remember who they are interacting with in terms of their preferred colour energies.

When a leader starts their development journey, they receive their profile which identifies strengths and areas for development, plus hints on how to motivate and communicate with other people in their teams.

The Clarity ‘4D’ process takes them through the 4 dimensions of personal development:

1D: Discover (self-awareness)

2D: Discuss  (others’ perceptions of you)

3D: Diversify (unlock your potential)

4D: Develop (your full potential over time)

The 2D feedback profile gives objective feedback to the leader from other people about how they are perceived in terms of their colour behaviours. This helps to open up conversations and enables the leader to move into the 3rd Dimension, when they become skilled at understanding their colleagues and adapting their communication style to meet their needs.

You may already use profiling in your organisation – why not take a look at Clarity4D and contact Rachael Hartley for a complimentary profile.  We are validated by the British Psychological Society and are substantially more cost effective than other profiles on the market.
