Games industry unveils Diversity Charter

Putting The G Into Gaming (GIG) and RightTrack Learning have launched the G Into Gaming Diversityย Charterย โ€“ an initiative focused on building more gender diverse and inclusive workplaces in the games industry.

Companies of all sizes are encouraged to sign up to the Charter and commit to taking pro-active steps to increase diversity and inclusion in their businesses through their activities in the attraction, selection, development and retention of talent.

Those who sign up to make a change will receive:

  • A Diversity Benchmarking Tool & Health Check
  • Attraction, Selection, Development and Retention tool kits
  • Charter badges in recognition of their achievements
  • Benefits from associated PR and marketing

Liz Prince, GIG Founder and Business Manager at award-winning recruitment specialist Amiqus, said: โ€œJust 20% of the games industry workforce is female. An even smaller percentage of those are engaged in development roles or in leadership positions. Weโ€™re here to find ways the industry can put its foot on the accelerator to make games a go-to career choice for women and girls from all walks of life.

โ€œTogether with RightTrack, we have developed a Charter to showcase those studios who commit to take proactive steps for change and would encourage games businesses to sign up and invest in steps and actions that will diversify and future proof our industry.โ€

RightTrackโ€™s Lead Director Claudia Cooney added: โ€œIn delivering diversity and inclusion training for clients, including UKIE, we have established a strong understanding of the games industryโ€™s specific needs and are excited to pledge our commitment to support businesses signing up to the Charter.โ€

It is free for companies to sign up to the G Into Gaming Diversityย Charter.
