Diversity and changes to the interview process key trends for HR in 2018

New research cites diversity and changes to the interview process as key trends within the HR sector for the year ahead.

LinkedIn’s Global Recruitment Trends report showed that 82% of recruiters consider diversity to be their main consideration.

78% of employers polled believed that having a diverse workforce created a positive culture, with 62% saying it also helped with company performance.

However, 38% of those polled said they struggled to find employees from diverse backgrounds, along with 27% who admitted that they found it difficult to retain diverse employees.

The interview process was also identified as a key topic for the new year, with 49% of hiring managers saying that changes to interview techniques would be important, with challenges highlighted including understanding weakness (57%) and interview bias (42%).

Jon Addison, head of talent solutions at LinkedIn UK, commented: “Over the past few years, hiring talent has become a repetitive, and sometimes transactional, process. But there is a shift happening, and these emerging trends are helping to elevate recruitment to a more strategic profession that focuses on the most important and gratifying parts of the job – the human part and thinking critically about how to win the right talent. It’ll be a keen finger on the pulse with these trends that will help recruiters stay alive in our ever-evolving market.”

The annual report surveyed over 8,800 recruiters and hiring mangers from 39 countries.
